Windsor, VA – On April 1, 2023, Ryan Lambert set the record for the longest cast in the 125 gram sinker category, which also is the longest measured cast in United States history in a sport that, according to sources, dates back to the 1890s. Lambert’s cast was measured at “889.36’” by Kwang Wook Hyun and witnesses at the Surfcast USA Spring Casting Tournament.
Ryan Lambert, who is also Vice President of the Carolina Surf Casters Association, captured his first US record in March of 2022 at the Jerry Valentine Classic tournament in Texas with a cast of 867’ in the 150 gram sinker category.
Both the 125 gram and 150 gram records were previously held by Will Nash of Texas. Despite additional efforts by Lambert in the two remaining sinker categories at the April 1 SCUSA tournament, Nash maintains the records for the 175 gram sinker (833.19’) and 100 gram sinker (873.06’) categories.
