Conner Brown Picks Up US Win Before Worlds

CSCA May 2026 Surf Casting Competition - Sean Sprague casts over 700'.

Windsor, Virginia – It was a mild weekend on May 2nd and 3rd, 2026 as salt water warriors with lead in their hearts mercilessly sliced through the heavens and smashed heavy metal into the crust of the earth. They were a legion of first timers, junior casters, CSCA diehards, and a growing circle of newer athletes who are catapulting towards 750’ and beyond.

Full Competition Video Coverage

A total of 14 carbon fiber warriors stepped onto the battlefield. At the end, 6 raised their lances to the sky victorious. Jack King took advantage of his age and size difference over brother Pax to win the Junior class. John Mroczka racks up another win in the Senior class against close competitor Butch Lloyd.

Newcomer Jay Phung was the single B class caster, blasting past 400’ with a Hatteras cast 175 gram sinker. Sean Sprague broke through the 700’ barrier and emerged with the AAA class title. Goddy Ferrer fell just short of 750’, but it was enough to put him at the top of the Master Class. Deceptive wind conditions kept 800’ out of reach, but Conner Brown, the only Elite class caster, won the overall competition with a cast of 771’ with the 150 gram sinker.
