Relatively strong (albeit inconsistent) winds on Saturday helped up-and-coming caster Jon Alonzo break through the 600′ mark. Ryan Lambert, as was predicted, reached out over 800′ on several casts, and Goddy Ferrer came excruciatingly close.
Sunday’s weather was the doldrums by comparison: high barometric pressure and winds below 5 mph. The only caster who was able to move the needle from Saturday’s performance was first time (ever) distance caster Doug Tuers.
Of course no small part of the pleasure of the weekend was getting to watch and chat with seasoned casters like Bob Sales, Charlie Portaluppi, Butch Lloyd and John Mroczka… and the same with casters like Jon Alonzo and Jordan Bray who are barreling towards 650′ and beyond.
