Windsor, VA – In the warm mild winds of August in Virginia, over 15 athletes gathered to test their casting skill on the grasses of Heritage Park in Isle of Wight County. New casters like William Dekker and Richard Litten III tied on 8 ounce sinkers and expertly sliced the air with their Hatteras Heavers. Veterans like Angel Villalpando and Goddy Ferrer mostly stuck to the lighter tournament-class sinkers and used their well-honed pendulum cast variants to rack up impressive distances.
The crowd thinned to only the diehards on Sunday as the air went still and the sun and its heat took a toll. All of the best distances of the event were to be had on Saturday as healthy gusts raced below overcast skies.
